African Safari Game Walkthrough

African Safari

--------------------------
Go right until you see two monkeys. LOOK then choose the STRONG one. Go left and
take the CAN and PEANUTS along the way. Now GO SOUTH down to the river. Go right
and pick up the MATCHES. Go left until you see another monkey. LIGHT MATCH to
impress it and make it drop the FLUTE, which you should take. Ignore the ROD and
go left and GO NORTH and then right all the way to the snake. PLAY FLUTE to
scare it off and take the PADDLE it was guarding. Now return to the boat on the
river bank. GO BOATOn the river: The boat will start drifting right. If you
brought the strong monkey, it can row the boat for you. Press CTRL-Left at
regular intervals to reduce the speed. At a certain point a clear area of the
shore will appear. Quickly press CTRL-Down to disembark. If you don't make it,
the boat will go over a waterfall, so don't screw up!! After landing, proceed
right, pick up the KNIFE along the way and continue, until you see an elephant.
Simply DROP PEANUTS and the kind creature will take you through the jungle to
the desert. The desert: The desert is a maze and consists of a 6x6 grid.

You start out at grid 12. When moving one grid eastwards or westwards, the
clockin the game ticks approximately 7 seconds. Moving south, you seem to get
shifteda bit eastwards, so you may actually end up a little further to the east
than youexpect ( bug in game) - so be alert! It is possible to map your movement
by droppingitems. They seem to have disappeared if you walk away and return
later. Try to LOOK,and you will find that the items are still there. This also
goes for some of the signs - you may not see them until you LOOK. Written on the
signs are hintsto point you in the right direction - probably some game bug in
the layout here too, since the hints does not always take you where you need to
go. However, the following route will eventually bring you out of the desert:
You start out at 12 –
twice east to 14 –
south to 24 (sign saying BIRDS FLY IN WINTER) –
four tines south to 64 (sign saying GO LEFT) –
twice east to 66 (sign saying BIRDS IN SUMMER) –
twice north to 46 (sign saying If IT’S MORNING FOLLOW YOUR SHADOW) –
four times west to 42 and LOOK (sign saying STANDING SOUTH - GO BACK, due to a
bug, if you don't LOOK you won't notice the sign) –
three times north to 12 (BROKEN SIGN) –
three times east to 15 (BROKEN SIGN) –
twice south to 35 (sign saying IF IT’S AFTERNOON FOLLOW YOUR SHADOW) –
east to 36 –
three times south to 66 –
twice west to 64 –
five times north to 14 (you should be out of the desert now)

[note from Jacob Gunness:
At the end, when you have to go three times south to 66, you should also go a
little west and you'll see the BIRDS IN SUMMER sign. Now, just go north 5 or 6
times and you'll leave the desert. Odd Magne's final moves in the desert didn't
work for me]

You are now in the grass plains - watch out for the lion that is chasing you. If
you get caught in a net, CUT ROPE (with knife). Move as far east as you can.
Then move asfar south as you can. Next, move west until an exit opens up to the
south. Go southinto the cave. LIGHT MATCH, GET DIAMOND, GO NORTH. The game is
finished! Solution done by
